It's April Fools Day and the joke is on us! Although historians have their theories, no one agrees on the exact origins of the day. There are references to the Hilaria Festivals during Roman times and a particularly interesting game involving sticking a paper fish on the backs of unsuspecting party gatherers during the Middle Ages. When the fish was found, the party guests shouted "poisson d'avril", which means fish of April... which is suggested as a precursor for April Fools' Day. Like in the US, France marks the day with jokes and pranks.
On the subject of jokes and pranks, I googled "epic corporate April Fool Jokes". Two of the funnier ones were by Velveeta Cheese and Honda.
"V" toted by Velveeta Cheese was a full skincare product line that used their gooey velveeta cheese as the primary ingredient. I'm not thinking smearing thick cheese on my face sounded like a good idea but apparently some people were intrigued. It was a joke.
Honda rolled out a “state-of-the-art, dog-first” technology they named PAW-S. This Pet-Activated Wireless System was heralded as a new vehicle entry activation system that allowed your dog access into your car boot- no need for you to be around! Fido could also use smart in-car technology to go for walks all by himself with his fellow four-legged friends. Interested? Again, it was a joke.
We're a jovial and good natured group at AKandB and don't always make puns in the kitchen, but when we do, it's a whisk worth taking.
Come see us at AKandB during the month of April. We promise it will be fun with no pranks!
